TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to all removalist and related services provided by Sumo Removals & Storage (ABN 62 683 033 365) ("we", "us", "our") to the customer ("you", "your"). By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Services
We provide removalist and related services including, but not limited to, residential and commercial removals, packing and unpacking, loading and unloading, furniture disassembly and reassembly, and transport of goods within Victoria and interstate as agreed.
Services are provided based on the information you supply. Any change to scope, access, timing, or goods may result in additional charges.
2. Quotations & Pricing
2.1 Quotes

Quotes may be fixed or estimates only, unless expressly stated in writing as a fixed price.

Quotes are based on the information provided by you (including item list, access, distance, and time). Inaccurate or incomplete information may invalidate the quote.
2.2 Hourly Rates

Hourly services are charged from arrival at the pickup address until completion at the delivery address, including loading, travel, unloading, and reasonable breaks.

Minimum booking periods may apply.
2.3 Additional Charges Additional charges may apply for, but are not limited to:

Difficult access (stairs, lifts, long carries, steep driveways)
-
Delays outside our control (traffic, weather, building management delays)
-
Heavy or specialty items (e.g. pianos, safes, pool tables)
-
Packing materials and packing services
-
Storage, waiting time, or re-delivery
-
After-hours, weekends, or public holidays
3. Payment Terms

Payment is due in full immediately upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We accept cash, bank transfer, and other methods as advised.

Failure to pay may result in goods being withheld (subject to applicable law) and recovery costs being charged to you.
4. Cancellations & Rescheduling
-
Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 48 hours before the booking time.

Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a cancellation fee or loss of deposit.

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule due to circumstances beyond our control (including vehicle breakdown, extreme weather, or safety concerns).
5. Customer Obligations
You agree to:

Provide accurate and complete information about the goods and access at all locations

Ensure clear and safe access to pickup and delivery points
-
Secure parking permits and approvals where required

Disconnect appliances and prepare items for transport

Be present or have an authorised representative present during the move
We may refuse to move items we consider unsafe, illegal, or inadequately packed.
6. Prohibited & Dangerous Goods
We do not transport:

Hazardous, flammable, explosive, or corrosive materials
-
Perishable goods
-
Cash, jewellery, precious metals, important documents, or high-value collectibles unless expressly agreed in writing
You warrant that no prohibited goods are included. Any loss or damage arising from prohibited goods is your responsibility.
7. Packing & Insurance
7.1 Packing

Items packed by you are moved at your own risk unless damage is caused by our negligence.

We are not responsible for damage to items improperly packed or previously damaged.
7.2 Insurance

Transit insurance is not automatically included unless stated in writing.

You are responsible for arranging adequate insurance for your goods.
8. Damage & Liability
8.1 Standard of Care We will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing our services, in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
8.2 Limitations To the extent permitted by law:

Our liability is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss

We are not liable for damage caused by:
-
Pre-existing defects or wear and tear
-
Items packed by you
-
Items requiring special handling unless declared
-
Access issues or structural defects at premises

8.3 Reporting Damage

Any loss or damage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery with supporting photos.
9. Delays & Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failure to perform due to events beyond our reasonable control, including traffic accidents, extreme weather, industrial action, or acts of God.
10. Right to Refuse Service
We reserve the right to refuse or cease service if:

Conditions are unsafe

Payment terms are not met
-
Prohibited goods are present
-
Abusive or threatening behaviour occurs
11. Storage & Unclaimed Goods
If goods are stored or left unclaimed, storage fees will apply. We may dispose of goods in accordance with applicable Victorian laws if payment remains outstanding.
12. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria have exclusive jurisdiction.
14. Amendments
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of booking will apply.
